About Garden City

Garden City, a coastal South Carolina town sometimes known as Garden City Beach, is located just south of Myrtle Beach. Though the Garden City of today is home to more than 9,000 residents, tragedy struck Garden City in 1954, when Hurricane Hazel hit the city, leaving only 2 houses habitable.

Garden City is home to Marlin Quay Marina, which offers a variety of sport fishing and parasailing opportunities for the outdoor enthusiast in your family. A number of golf courses are also located in the Pawleys Island area, many of which are within a short drive from Garden City.

If you travel just 10 miles north of Garden City, you will find yourself in Myrtle Beach, among a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities for those of all ages. Everyone in your family will enjoy a visit to Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede Dinner & Shows or one of three evening shows by Calvin Gilmore – The Carolina Opry, Good Vibrations or Tribute!

If you travel just 15 minutes south of Garden City, you will find yourself in the Pawleys Island area, where you can take a leisurely tour the beautiful Brookgreen Gardens or have an afternoon picnic at Huntington Beach State Park.

As with most coastal areas, don’t forget to sample local seafood at the delicious Garden City restaurants while you are here. Whether you dine in Garden City or travel to another nearby South Carolina coastal town, the local fare will be enjoyed by all.
